Electrical Action

Today was an interesting day in regard to electricity - sorry you missed it Neil :( At about 6:30 this morning we noticed smoke coming out of one of the electrical poles. This quickly led to some loud popping, sparking and eventually flames. Obviously this caused the power to go out at the school. As flames continued to work their way up the pole a large crowd gathered outside as kids started to arrive for school. At this point we decided to take some action and Dan became the local hero as he climbed a ladder, threw some dirt to put out the flames and then separated the wires with a long bamboo stick. As the lower level of the school has a separate power supply the kids were able to return to school. The team on the other hand, on the upper level was left without power and water. We made the best of things by running some extension cords to the lower level so we could use some tools and continue the work. Despite some valiant efforts from a local electrician we are still without power and are going to bed without any lights or a shower. Everyone is doing just fine and enjoying the adventure - it's just like camping! We are hoping to get power restored tomorrow but are planning to return to the Oasis anyway. Make sure you check out the video below.
